Cella’s eyes fluttered open at long last. The light coming in from the window suggested she had been sleeping for near the entire day as the sky shown through the glass in the multiple hues of gold and red with a lining of purple to suggest that it was just about to set behind the horizon. She turned her head to the right and noticed her apron all neatly folder next to her bed and a small smile lifted the corners of her drowsy lips as she slowly, this time, sat up on her elbows first, resting there just to make certain that same insane pulse of pain would not return. Satisfied that it was not going to, after several moments, she took up the coat that he had laid over her and then continued her motion and now sat fully up on the hospital bed and began immediately to curse herself for sleeping so long. In short, once again back to her usual busy minded self, her mind instantly working over all she would need to attend to and how far behind she’ d be now. She moaned outwardly and slipped her feet over the side of the bed then, stepping lightly on the floor, she reached out and took up her apron, tied it about her tiny waist and noticed the weight of an object in one of its pockets, put her hand in and then pulled out the medicine that she assumed Faust must have given her and looked at it suddenly remembering the foul bitter taste it contained and made a sour face. After all this, she reached up and ran her fingers through her hair, took a tie from her other pocket and commenced to pulling her thick fiery locks up into a suitable tail that hung behind her head, allowing her freshly renewed face to show fully, as well as keep the annoying stuff out of her way and started for the door.
She turned the knob with her right hand and opened it up then stepped out into the hall. Her eyes winced at the light she found there and she was forced to stand still for a few moments until her yes adjusted from the dark room to the brightly lit halls of the what she could tell, quiet hall of the critical unit.
“Well, at least that is a good sign.” She said softly to herself as she head down the hall to Faust’s office to return his jacket and thank him for everything.
As she walked passing a few open doors she noticed they did indeed have at least one new patient in here. She lifted the chart from the door and looked it over and after finding it was not more than a farming accident, and had nothing to do with that damned Necromancer, she took a deep breath and settled the chart back to its resting place and continued on until she finally came to his door where she turned and knocked.
"You in there?" She asked loud enough so that if he were, he'd hear.

It had been nearly twelve hours since Cella had been put to bed. For Faust it was a busy day, check ups, minor injuries, and one accident that did a great deal of damage to the patient. It was very stressful for him, doing minor surgery on the man on his first day, but both Faust and the patient pulled through. In the afternoon the doctor did paperwork while munching on a subpar, undersized lunch, consisting of water and bread. He was ordering supplies, checking lists of appointments, patient movements and progress, and other things that needed to be done.
The young doctor looked up from his work. The light from the window was red and gold, a wonderful sunset. He looked to his left at a thin stack of papers, his inbox, and sighed. He looked to his right, down at two separate piles of paper, his outbox. He had spent hours working on paperwork, there were now black rings starting to form under his eyes and his stomach gurgled loudly. He looked down and shushed. "You know I can't give you very much, shut up. You'll be getting bread, thats it unfortunately." He grumbled at his stomach again and tore a large chunck off a small loaf of bread and ate it hungrily.
The young man put down the pen to the next form he had to fill out, yet he heard a voice come through his door.
"You in there?"
Faust raised his head. "Yes Cella, I'm in here." The door opened and Cella came in. "Ah, sleep well?" He asked. He smiled a tired smile and gestured to one of the piles on his right. "I managed to finish all your work you had." He told her before she could answer.

Cella opened the door and quietly stepped through the threshold and stopped as he gestured at the paperwork that filled his desk.
“You didn’t have to do all that, I am sure you had enough on your own to do Faust.” She started and then stopped and smiled as she handed him his jacket. “But thanks.” She said then, her tone softening to that of a thankful tone.
She had never had anyone to help her with anything around here. It had always been up to her to make certain that every detail was taken care of and for just a moment, she felt a slight pang of what would be anger at him for taking over what was, to her, her responsibility alone, but then it hit her that this is just what she had wanted and she was suddenly even more thankful for his appearance than ever before.
Cella walked over to his desk and laid a hand on it and leaned down to inspect his work, her fiery locks, tied at eh back of her neck falling over her shoulder all at once to rest there as she peeked and then she stood.
“And you did good work too.” She nearly teased. “I just might have to keep you around for a bit I think.” She said in a light voice, her lavender orbs shining brightly as she smiled down at him. “You however need some rest sir.” She told him, taking one good long look at the bags beginning to form under his eyes, her own gone now, leaving her face clear of the stress that had been there at their first meeting. “And don’t tell me this is all you’ve eaten today…” She raised a fine brow at him and tilted her head slightly to the side, now sounding every bit the nurse she was.

Faust watched her cross the room and inspect his work on her papers. When she complimented him the young doctor merely smiled and closed his eyes, a silent thank-you. His eyes scanned her slightly, moving over her bright red hair, to her lavender eyes, for the first time, really getting a chance to look at her. He took his jacket from Cella and laid it over the the arm of his chair. He signed his name on the last of his own papers and finished his day's work.
“You however need some rest sir. And don’t tell me this is all you’ve eaten today…”
Faust nodded slightly. "Yes, some rest...." He said thoughtfully. "Today's been tiring." He yawned, covering his mouth politely and sighed. His back was sore and his hand hurt from writing all day, but Cella didn't need to know that. He yawned again and ran his fingers through his white locks before looking back up at his head nurse.
Cella's eyes were fixed on the half eaten loaf of bread and the jar of water he still had on his desk. Already Faust knew what she was going to say, her eyes already told him that. She asked him if he only had that to eat today, in response Faust sighed. "I can't really afford much else." He explained. "Working at such a small clinic requires a low pay and long hours, I've been blessed with care packages from previous patients. Without them I'd be drinking water for lunch today."

She watched his every movement without watching. It was her mind that watched, not her eyes and she noticed his hand move through his hair even before he made the action and when he actually did it, her mind was already moving to the, Did he call this a lunch? she thought to herself and then sighed, shaking her head slowly and might have even rolled her eyes slightly.
“I knew there was another spot I needed to show you today. I am quite put out that one of the orderlies hadn’t directed you properly…” She trailed off and took a deep breath standing back from his desk slightly; she stretched her hand out to him in offering for him to take her posture near playful. “Come with me Doctor.” She stated with a friendly attitude. “I do believe that your days of bread and water will end tonight, as I too am hungry and it would be nice to have some company for a change that isn’t a babbling orderly talking about bedpans while I try to eat my dinner.” She smiled down at him, her face absolutely beaming with joy at this point.
Her tour was indeed cut short earlier and as a matter-of-fact, the next place she had planned on showing him was indeed the cafeteria where the staff always ate for free. This time of evening they would have dinner just put out and ready and her own stomach reminded her of that as she stood waiting for him to take her offered hand up

Faust looked at her hand and stared at it for a moment, the thought of an actual meal shocked him slightly. He tore his eyes away only to toss his water and bread into a bag and proceeded to take Cella's hand. He stood up and as he rose to his feet he paused, a great grumble came from his stomach and the doctor blushed. "Sorry." He apologized as he stood up completely.
He allowed himself to be led through the white halls of the hospital, past the different doors that held patients, past offices and through the lounge until they came to a small cafateria. The smell of food was wonderful, making the hungry man's mouth water. He smiled and blushed very slightly. "Why don't I get us something to eat, you can find us a table..." He said, starting to head toward the food, intent on getting back to her as soon as possible.

As they entered the cafeteria, Cella looked about at the tables and as well, watched him as his eyes fell on the freshly cooked food that lay along the buffet style warmers and coolers. A smile like no other seen from her as of yet was brought to her face as she watched him; he seemed so much like a little kid in a candy shop just now. He had told her to take a seat and that he would bring them something, she shrugged her shoulders and happily moved away from him, trusting that whatever he chose would be fine and walked to the nearest table, as far away from the giggling nurses or gawking orderlies and as well the families of those seated along various places, here late and awaiting dinner hour to be over so that they might have a chance to bid their ill or injured a good night in the last hour allowed them to visit for the evening.
It wasn’t too long before he returned with the two trays full of various items as well, balanced a drink on either tray. She waited for him to get the trays settled on the table and take his own seat across from her before she offered him yet another smile. “Thanks Faust... by the way.” She said, not referring to him brining her the dinner, but obviously for earlier. And then she took a small drink from her juice and picked up her fork.
She had never before been so in need of help from anyone, and it was almost awkward knowing that she wasn’t quite as invincible as she had thought. Of course, it may have simply been that once he had arrived, her mind knew it could let loose, as it were. As well, she had not even slept for an entire week, having not been able to get the awful pictures of what had happened with the Necromancer out of her mind, having stood up to the terrible man and watching all those dead walking from her hospital under his control, it was all still so fresh and horrid in her mind that it was no wonder she hadn’t simply gone over the edge earlier but some how, she hadn’t. It was just one more thing she was learning about herself, one more thing she found as an oddity about her life, setting her further from those she tended to every day. She, it seemed was learning more about herself in these last few weeks than she had in her first 18 years of life.
There was a crash and she jumped, her lavender eyes darting toward the sound, it dragging her out of her silent musings. It had only been a small child knocking a tray form a table and Cella smiled allowing her gaze now to turn and silently move over Faust until she lifted the fork to her lips and began to eat her dinner, her gaze then paying attention to nothing really at all.
“Busy day was it?” She asked then, once again allowing her eyes to rise up and meet his

Faust picked up two trays of what was being served, two drinks and two sets of utensils. He carried each back quickly, but careful not to drop anything. He set down the trays and sat in his seat quietly. He picked up his fork and started to eat his meal, though forcing himself not to eat too quickly. He looked up and saw her give him a small smile.
“Thanks Faust... by the way.”
"It was nothing." He said quietly, though a slight pink tinge appeared on his pale cheeks. And she looked down to eat her own meal, yet Faust didn't look away. He decided to watch her eat, though obviously she was deep in thought. He wanted to know what she was thinking about, though he knew better then to ask and be nosey.
There was a clang and Faust saw the child knock the tray over. His eyes moved back to Cella, where he was greeted with her lavender eyes. He smiled as she asked him how his day was. "To say the least," He answered. "It was busy, though it was a good learning experience." He grinned and took a drink from his glass, enjoying the juice, something that was most definitely not water.

”It was nothing…”
To these words she shook her head and nearly laughed. But she refrained and simply took a deep breath as she continued to gaze at him, blinking her eyes a few times, her long lashes closing over her lavender orbs lightly only to open up again to release the shining brilliance of the fully rested and quite happy eyes of the nurse. “Still... thanks all the same.” She said and then took another small drink from her juice before settling it down on the table once more.
She knew this was a great deal more than what he would have been used to in the small practice he had on the other side of town, but she knew, after what he had accomplished this day, he would do just fine here, maybe even enjoy it.
“Tell me, if you don’t mind…” She started, then paused to regard him a moment before continuing. “What is it you enjoy doing, when you aren’t all buried up to your head in medical papers and forms and injuries and all the like.” She asked, a bold move, but she truly wanted to get to know this man she’d be working so closely with from here on in.

“Tell me, if you don’t mind, what is it you enjoy doing, when you aren’t all buried up to your head in medical papers and forms and injuries and all the like.”
Faust looked at her softly for a few moments. He took another drink and sighed. "Me? I suppose I just lay about. Usually I'm too exhausted to do much else other than slump in a chair and rest. I usually read, listen to music and the like when at home. When not at home I tend to go out to have fun, bars and such, dancing. To be honest I don't have much of a life beyond being a doctor, I'm sure you've noticed that it takes up a lot of your time working in the proffesion."
Faust smiled gently, looking into her eyes. Not a minute ago he nearly dropped his fork as she blinked a few times. Her eyes had caught him by surprise, the lavander standing out, shining bright. For a few moments after that he couldn't look away, he found it odd. "And you, Cella, I hope its okay I call you that, what do you do with your free time?"

Remembering back to her total exhausted state and her final collapse, she did let go a little bell of a laugh at his comment about knowing what it was like. “Yes, I do realize what the profession entails, quite first hand it would seem.” She replied at first, giving him a wink and then took a deep breath once more, her teeth sliding over her bottom lip as if she was thinking about an answer to his question.
Cella found it hard to take her eyes from him for a moment, as he seemed to watch her so closely. She managed to look down at her now empty tray however and then about the room once more before she found her gaze once again settle on his person once more.
“As for me?” She started and then smiled. “I quite like going to the lake when I can, take a swim out to the middle and then just simply float there, in perfect silence.” She told him truthfully. “However, if, and trust you, there aren’t many days it can be allowed, I get the time to take an entire day to myself, I sometimes like to go to the tow center and do a bit of shopping or simply walk along the streets, with my own thoughts to keep me company. Sitting at home, well, I almost wonder at times why I ever even purchased a building for my things to lie about.” She giggled slightly. “Why I can’t even remember the last time I even ate a meal there let alone slept in my own bed.” She admitted.

Faust put down his fork on to the empty tray in front of him. He sighed contently, truely enjoying the fact that he had just had an actual meal, it was a long time since he last had anything of that size ot eat. Faust took a sip from his glass and smiled, feeling full for once in a long time. "I know what you mean." He said to Cella.
"Sometimes it feels like your house is your second home and you live here." He grinned and stretched. "I had a bed put into my old office, just so I could have somewhere to sleep when I couldn't go back home." The young doctor chuckled and looked across the table to the head nurse.
"You know...." He said slowly. "Taking a swim wouldn't be too bad if I ever had free time." He nodded. "Thanks for the idea." He picked up both of their empty trays. "I'll be back in a sec." He told her as he left to put away the dishes.
A few minutes later Faust came back and sat down across the table from Cella once again. "You know," He started. "you and I are getting quite a bit of attention from those other employees." He glanced over to the other side of the room to where most of the nurses sat. They were watching them both, though trying to look like they weren't, failing miserably at that too.

Cella sat and listened to his voice, the soothing sound it came to her realization, the one soothing thing in her life. A smile played across her entire features as she continued to listen to him, her attention being drawn in and away from anything else in the room, as if he was the only thing that existed until, that was, he stopped speaking and got up. She nearly started, almost jumped when he left, her mind startled back to reality and when he returned, she hoped he hadn’t noticed her reaction for she had no explanation.
“Yes, I do believe we are being watched rather closely by a few pairs of curious eyes.” She started and then laughed slightly. “You would think we were on display at the local zoo or something.” She smiled brightly, her lavender eyes sparking to life, seeming to radiate to a point of actually shining.
It seemed to her that there was another voice that had close to the same effect on her, but she couldn’t place it, her mind simply, it seemed, would not allow her to think on it and so, she let that feeling simply slide away into the abyss of forgotten thoughts.

Faust sighed, disliking all the attention. "You know..." He said, a slight hint of discomfort in his voice. "I've finished all your work, and we're both off duty, do you think you could help me with some shopping?" He asked politely. "Usually I only bring home what I can carry, which isn't much." The doctor ran his fingers through his hair and waited for a reply.
He smiled at Cella gently, she was a nice woman, kind and gently, if not a little bit of a workaholic. Personally Faust thought she was awfully interesting, not to mention helpful, he wouldn't have eaten if she hadn't been kind enough to show him the hospital's cafeteria.
After a few moments Faust caught himself staring at her. He promptly looked down and the edges of his ears turned pink. He shook his head, still embarrassed. "You don't have to if you don't wanna." He added. "To go to the market- I mean...."

Cella watched him gazing at her, and found his eyes a place of solace, not to mention warmth and something more, something she wouldn’t or couldn’t quite put a finger on though, she hadn’t tried as of yet. When he looked away, she smiled; taking note of the fact that he seemed every bit as lost in her eyes as she was his. It was then that she smiled perhaps a bit devilishly at him and then simply laughed, reaching across the table, despite all the eyes on them, she cared not about them, she put one hand over his.
“I would be delighted to help you with your shopping Doctor, it would give us time to talk, without quite so many pressing ears, or prying eyes.” S he stated, her tone light and most understanding, and that was when she stood, taking her hand away from his and looked over at one of the nurses.
“The Doctor and I will be leaving for the evening, if there is a problem, you know where to find one of us at least. I will, as always, leave Max here if you need to send a note quickly.” She said and then turned to Faust and waited for him to stand.
Max was, of course her dog, her pet rather, she was HIS pet it seemed, as he was the one who had found her. Much like Faust, it seemed that she had given a stray a reason to remain in the world of the living, and for her, she was rewarded with perhaps the best friend a person could ever want.
