Cassius glanced to the side briefly, over to where the gory surprise that the stranger had just mentioned should have been quietly decorating the tavern floor, but saw only an empty mug, and a clean floor. Cassius was surprised, but none of it registered on his features, as he silently thought over the possibilities as quickly as any man could. "Trickery and illusion. Something is amiss here, and I'm keeping my eye on you friend" Cassius thought silently, fixing the tired looking man with a cold stare. "I can only suggest that you be on your way as soon as you can, Friend." The officer stood to the left of the general said, his voice low and calm, but quietly threatening. He and Cassius exchanged a quick glance, and something unseen passed between them. They had dealt with situations like this before, when there was more afoot than it first appeared. "Have a pleasant night." Cassius offered, before turning on his heel and returning to his seat, closely followed by the other two soldiers.
Cassius knew what He'd seen, and what he hadn't after he had looked the second time. his eyesight was perfect, but clearly, someone's talent for trickery was better. An Elf? An accomplished thief? Mage? Necromancer? It could be many things - even that damned grave keeper again Cassius reminded himself, sighing mentally.

Ash laughed within himself, thinking it was funny that the elf illusionist was being kicked out of The Phantom for something that he had done. Knowing very well that the elf girl was probably up to something illegal, like theft, it did not bother him in the least to be the cause of her departure. This ghost did not need help from outsiders to give Cassius any trouble, he did that well enough on his own.
A friend of the Grave Keeper needed to know some things and so he aimed on getting that knowledge for her. Knowing that he would not be able to get the Genaral to talk among his men, Ash figured he'd need to get him out of the tavern, and alone. This would be a hard task as Cassius did not care for him all too well, but he'd have to find a way to go about it.

The young man watched the older looking soldier meander back to his little section of the tavern which he had claimed for himself.
"Friend, yeah right," he hissed under his breath but was careful to keep his voice low. Color rose in his cheeks as he bent over to pick up the overturned flagon, doing his best to keep his bewilderment in check. He shook his head and placed the cursed flagon back on the table, and on second thought brought it back to the bartender.
"Interesting ale you serve," he said in a low voice, sounding nervous.
The bartender looked at him like the kid had some type of disease but it was everyone's responsibility to be nice about it.
"You ah .. you had better listen to the captain and do as he says. This place ain't for strangers," the fat bartender wearing an apron warned him. He waggled a stout finger. "Don't want to get thrown in the stocks." He went to clean the mug but hid it out of sight after consideration.
The younger fellow went to his table, took his time gathering his things together, and hoisted his meager belongings onto his back. After a quiet conversation, general nodding of heads, and a handshake, he left his company and disappeared through the broad tavern door into the chilly night, without barely a glance behind at the enigmatic tavern.

Apearing next to Cassius in his own form and head lowered while shyly kicking his right foot around, Ash spoke between his teeth in a low mumble. "Could we speak in private somewhere?" The Keeper looked at the General with hopefull eyes. "I know you probably don't care for me much with all the trouble you figure I cause. But I could really use some advice and I don't know who else to turn to."
Saying nothing more, Ashard waited for a reply and sighed deeply, looking bashfully towards the soldiers now and then.

Cassius turned to look at the mischievous little spirit, a deep frown sitting firmly on his features and it was showing no signs of vacating the premises any time soon. The grave keeper wanted a word? Some advice? How unusual. Perhaps Ashard was planning his next hilarious prank, and Cassius was going to be the star. Or perhaps he was genuine for once. If that was the case Cassius could hardly refuse his aid, after all a few words were nothing, and he had the time. "Come then," Cassius said, standing and sliding his bench back, "Let's talk." He went on, casting Ashard a look that positively dripped with suspicion.

Ashard was shaking nervously while waiting for Cassius's reply. Though he would of liked to think his acting skills were that good, he really was nervous. This was something rather important and he was afraid that his mission would fail, that he would fail his friend. When Cassius finally agreed to take a moment alone with the Keeper, Ash sighed with relief and thanked the general with a look in his eyes as he said, "We could go to the library to talk if you don't mind. No one should be there at this late hour." He headed for the door and waited there before exiting the tavern so that Cassius could go out first, allowing him to lead the way or even to decide on a different quiet place if he'd prefer it. ((ooc: lemme know if the library is k or what... then I can make a thread there ))
