Name: Gabriel Stone
Race/Type: Human/Adventurer(Mercenary)/Warrior/Foreign noble
Age: 29
Appearance: He stands six feet tall, is a fairly large build and strongly muscled. He has dark hair and a receding hairline, but he keeps it very short, matching the long stubble he typically wears on his rugged face.
Likes: Fun, foremost, which he tries to find at every turn. He loves adventure, challenge, and exciting new places. He likes food, drink, stories, and humour. He likes meeting people and having a good time, and women of course.
Dislikes: Being bored. He doesn't get along with dull people, and tires of too much caution.
Demeanour: He is Casual, friendly and outgoing. He is generally positive in attitude and will try just about anything in good fun or to challenge himself.
Skills: He is strong, very quick, and has an astounding stamina. He is a great brawler, a great shot with a bow, and a skilled warrior – with a short sword and shield, or with his bastard sword. He can read a situation very quickly, and size up a fighter just as quick. He can navigate on land or sea, rides well and can sail a ship, build shelters and traps, and repair almost anything. Practically, he is a jack of all trades of sorts, as he learned to basically be self sufficient through experience.
Weapons/Armour: His armour is a thick black leather. The chest piece is hard and custom fit to his body, with steel plates inside the muscle moulds. There is no steel over the shoulders until the back that is similarly designed to fit his body and has some steel frame and plates between the leather for added protection. The sides are separate pieces of leather but also of the same design with steel inside them, and are attached to the front and back by a strong but stretchy fabric that allows for proper movement. There are three thick leather straps with large silver buckles on either side of the armour to pull the pieces together, tightening the fit. The Collar of the armour matches his collar bone, and at the back it sticks up some four inches, angled outward, protecting the back and sides of his neck with steel plates within the same black leather without constricting the movement of his neck. The spaulders are built in and cover both shoulder equally, and only cover a couple inches of the upper arm below the shoulders.
From the bottom of the body, there are a series of wide strips of armour that overlap each other and come down to just above the knee. Together, they form a sort of skirt of armour, and within each strip is of course, a plate of steel. Under it, he wears a thinner pair of leather pants, easier to move in, that he tucks under his boots. At the front of the thighs are steel plates again, inside the leather, and straps that buckle at the back over his hamstrings to secure the armour in place.
His boots match, with steel inside the shins and tops of the feet. the same set of three straps run up the calves for fit. The boots run just below the knee at the back, and above the knee at the front, coming to a point that juts out when he bends the knee.
His gauntlets, of the same design, have two steel plates that each cover half the entire forearm, parted along a narrow crease along the length that allows them to move and tighten. There are three thick leather straps on the inside of the arm with big silver buckles to tighten the gauntlets to fit. the attached gloves are a thinner leather, but look all the same, and have one small plate of solid silver on the back of the hand and smaller ones on the knuckles. These plates are not within the leather, but fully exposed and pointed, though not sharp. The very tip of each finger is open, allowing his to feel with his fingers even through the armour.
A great bastard sword rests at his left hip, in a sheath matching the armour, that is secured to it by a thick black leather belt that loops through the waist of the armour and closes with a thick silver buckle at the front. The swords handle is laced with black leather cord, and the pommel is a blunt piece of solid silver. A matching short sword is sheathed on his back, in a scabbard that is fitted to the armour under a similarly matching round shield that he wears there as well. He also sheaths a good knife upside down on his right thigh, and one upright on the outside of his left boot.
He has a large black longbow as well, but mainly keeps it and the arrows on his horse with his packs and gear.
History: Gabriel was born in the city of Stone, inland on the central continent where the people of his city battled historically with the people of other warrior cities, mostly over the rural lands between them, and as well with the mage nations to the south. He was born to nobility in the ruling family of their city, though he was in no realistic succession to the throne. His father was a soldier there just as most men there were, and all noble men. His father was Killed when Gabriel was very young, and when he was twelve and passed through puberty, Gabriel was named man of the house - A lesser house then, under the founding house by their same name. Combat had always been his primary education, since the time he could barely walk, and war was the primary academic, since as soon as he could speak in phrases. As a child though, in all his free time Gabriel would slip out of the house and run about the city, escaping even the confines of their great walls if he could to find some thrilling adventure. By the time he was twelve and named a knight, Gabriel had grown to long for so much more than a post guarding the castle of Stone. He had heard of other lands and he wanted to see them.
Given his father's weapons at twelve, Gabriel left the city two years later when his younger brother Michael came of age. Then fourteen, Gabriel named Michael warden of the house and went off to see the world. He started first by investing in and following a merchant caravan to see the lands of his own home continent. That adventure took him from coast to coast to coast, travelling over mountains and through valley plains, and across deserts among the warrior nations and the lands of the magic tribes as well. He saw a great deal of new things and met many people along the way. The lands were quite perilous, and there was much adventure to be had. He fought off raids, battled mages, and even the occasional monster. He climbed rock faces and had to cross rapid rivers where there was sometimes no bridge. After two years, he grew his investment to hold a location in the great port city of the warrior nations.
He left there on a small merchant ship he bought and travelled down the coast to experience the sea for the first time. It was only months before the ship was attacked by pirates. Gabriel surrendered the ship and joined the pirates, before eventually starting a mutiny and taking over the ship some months later. By that time, the ship was in the open of the eastern sea, and under his command they landed and raided a number of castles on the western shores of the eastern continent. Before the ship sailed from that land, Gabriel got off and took up exploring a whole new continent. He bought a horse in a small port town that they stopped at far from their last raid, and he wandered inland to see what that land had to offer. He spent a few years there travelling from city to city, turning in bounties and fighting small skirmishes on behalf of local lords. He later travelled farther to the east and travelled the more sparse frontier that was unprotected by the larger kingdoms of the continent. There, he found more interesting, beastly adventures. A couple years of that, and Gabriel boarded a fishing boat off the eastern shore that took him south, where he then got off at port and boarded a larger merchant vessel. On that ship, Gabriel sailed through every port city on the land, and across to his home continent again.
Then twenty four years old, Gabriel travelled home to visit his family. He found the city and the house had be wrought by wars again, but his brother Michael was still well. The wars were still ongoing at the time, and Gabriel took up arms next to his younger brother to defend the city. They fought well, and his house was given more lands and higher titles for their pivotal contributions. When the enemy city had drawn back, Gabriel led the armies of his house and his banners to attack their foes in open field at the gates of their own capitol. Victory was theirs, and they then continued to sack the city and claim it for their own. King stone dissolved the local nobility and named Gabriel and his house as overlords. Together, Gabriel and his brother reigned in the outlying towns and villages to submit to their rule, and ended a campaign with a subdued people. His house moved to their own city, Shore, and Gabriel left again to seek more adventure. He'd had new armour built for him there, and his weapons restored before he left.
He travelled back to the port city where he held his merchant offices to find they'd done rather well, so he invested further and added to all their fleets, even buying them bigger ships that could be better manned and defended. Gabriel took sail on of of those ships, and landed it in the great port city of Grultz End on the great continent Kingdom of Karador. There he named his first mate captain, opened trade negotiations with the local industries, and watched his ship sail away. He was twenty eight then, and spent some time in the port city and it's surrounding towns finding adventures and tales of the kingdom. Within a year or so, he had decided there would be greater adventure further inland, and packed his horse to travel to Meerin.
Other: He owns a large brown horse named Byfrost, with white in his mane and on his feet like boots. He is not the fastest breed of horse, but he is big and strong, and can carry on for great lengths. The horse stands a great twenty hands high; big, even for his breed. Aside from the fine, black leather leather saddle, the horse carries several saddlebags. There are two pairs of large black leather bags overlapping each other at the rear of the saddle, each the size of a back pack and each tied shut with a silver buckle. There is a pair of larger black lather sacs on the horses back, just behind the saddle, and behind those there are his rolled up tent and sleeping roll. He also usually carries a large black scabbard of arrows on the right, ahead of the saddle, for the large black longbow it carries on its left, ahead of the saddle. Among the packs are a variety of things, including a set of tools for sewing, skinning, tanning, filleting, cooking, smithing, and building. There is a sharpening stone, a flint, kindling, and some clothes. He carries foods, salts, spices, liquor, and water. In one he carries a compass, a telescope, maps, books, a notebook, and a pen with ink.
