Ormin waited in the entrance hall for Queen Kalista. It was now dusk, the orange glow from the setting sun was pouring through the open windows. Kalista was late for this meeting they were supposed to have to finalize Ormin's replacement of Dawsi, the former Captain of the Guard, and it was not like her to be late for much of anything. Ormin was not worried, however, if anything had happened to her it would allow him to move up in rankings and receive better pay, although he would not risk the chance of getting a leader less lenient than the current.
He stood against a support beam as the wall of orange light shown through onto his lower half of his body, he watched the door he most expected the Queen to come from.

Kalista walked through the halls of the Keep, her stride purposeful, she was late, and she detested being late for anything, though at the same time, knew there had been no way out of it this time, as the dispute that had come about concerning land issues between two of the richest Dukes of her Kingdome had to be solved or there might have been, along with everything else that was happening, a small personal war, and she definitely didn’t have time for that. In the end, to solve the issue at hand, Kalista had taken away from the two Dukes a strip of land that would separate the two rather large homesteads, much to both their distain. She told them that under no circumstances should either be allowed to trespass on what would now be the Queens property and to further enforce her word, she dispatched a small handful of troops to patrol what was now her own personal strip of land and advised the two Dukes to get over it, in so many words, and dismissed them both and now, headed to her meeting with the new Captain of the Guard, her mood set on most angered.
She now rounded the corner and came forward toward the Captain, she was attired in her most formal wear, meaning full dress armor, though had left her helm behind in the throne room, deciding she didn’t feel like carrying it about just now. As she approached, men and woman alike scrambled to get out of her way, the entire hall seemed to go from rather loud chatter to total silence, as she swept past them all without so much as a simple incline of her head, her posture that of business, her normally soft, onyx eyes now hard and lined with a silvery circle that seemed to waver and move into the Onyx, like small slivers of silvery liquid snakes, moving about to make her eyes seem alive.
She now stopped, just a few feet from the new captain and took a long and deep, steadying breath before addressing the man, her qualm was not with him, and it wouldn’t do to greet the new Captain with harsh words. She inclined her head to him slightly and managed a slight sliver of a smile. “Hello, and my apologies for the lateness of my arrival.” She said. “Shall we get started then?” She asked, dispensing with the small talk, her tone crisp, yet still showing a great restraint that was obviously in place.
