((OOC: In Response to Decimas's woodland animals thread))
The sounds of battle filled the town square and some nearby streets. This distrct of the city was in chaos, people screaming in terror, agony, panic or in their death throes, fires burned, eating away at one or two small dwellings and belcing out thick black smoke into the crisp air of the dawn.
"FOR KARADOR!"
The tunderous shout rang out across the massive town square, snapping several terrified townspeople back to reality.
Gazing about, one could make out lumbering forms of all shapes and sizes, moving with shocking speed or ponderously accross the square.
The creatures stank of death, and upon closer inspection, were well and truly dead. Multitudes of rotting carcasses from animals of all kinds charged through the smoke filled air, tearing men, women and children limb from limb.
One man lay back on the floor, cowering from an immense rotting monster, which may at one point have been a bear. It towered over him, rearing back, ready to spring forward and rend his life in its stinking and terrible jaws. . .
- Suddenly, the beasts chest exploded in flame, and chunks of smouldering flesh flew out in all dierctions. Through the smoke, the man could just make out another massive figure, as wide as the bear but slightly shorter. It burned with holy flame as he raised his sword for another strike.
The creature was sent reeling as the great blade bit into it's flesh, the ancient runes burning away the cursed flesh.
Cassius released the hilt of his massive sword and reached out with two gauntleted hands, taking the writhing creatures head between them. With a powerful twist of his shoulders, he wrenched the head from the body to the sound of splintering bone and tearing flesh.
His eyes afire, he cast the head aside, took up his sword and charged headlong, like a man possessed into the path of what appeared to be a wolf, or had been.
Looking about now, from the flat of his back on the cold, hard floor, the townsman could make out a full cohort of the Karadorian First Army in the square alone, slaying the creatures left, right and centre. A smile flickered across his face, before he passed out completely.
Soon the necromancers pets would all be gone, save for a few rats ot voles here and there, but they would be no problem for the war dogs. Cassius would enjoy hunting down every single one of the creatures, and looked forward to getting his hands on the necromancer himself. That wretch had much to answer for, and Cassius intended to make him pay the price.
