There were a few thieves sitting about here or there throughout the main hall of the thieves guild, resting or conversing in the dim light of the night time candles and torches on the walls. The half cloud covered moon could be seen through the large skylight rooftop high above the hall, as could the higher levels of the guild if one were to look the right direction. Most of the thieves didn’t pay it much attention to begin with, if any at all, but there was a shadow moving about the halls and doorways of the guild. The flicker of a shape could be seen for only a split second at a time whenever passing by a doorway, and the shadows he cast were only ever shown for an instant each whenever whoever it was, passed by a candle or a torch alog the walls.
After noticing the shadows a few times, realising that there was someone creeping about, some of the thieves began to glance around, searching to try and find the person that was lurking in the shadows. When shadows started to be cast directly on the floor, as if cast by the moonlight above, some started to look up, towards the balconies that hung off the second third and fourth levels within the main hall but no one was there as most thieves were out and about the town by that time of night. One young man got the idea, and looked straight up to the large chandeliers that hung over the room at every floor. That was indeed where the stalker had been. But he wasn’t anymore by the time anyone looked up.
Beginning to fear it may be assassins roaming through the guild, considering how whoever it was, was sneaking about, one thief got up and headed out of the room towards the stairs that would lead up to the thief royals chamber while the others stayed sitting in their spots, watching and waiting. No one could know it, but the man in the shadows of the guild was looking for something, for someone. He was looking at everything, at everyone. No one could know it, nor would anyone know why, but this man was more interested than any in the buisness of the thieves, and though he seemed to be always in the main hall, he was actually just circling back to it frequently as he roamed about the other areas of the guild as well.

Sara was laying in her room, enjoying a light sleep. She had learned to sleep light, so as to make it harder to be caught off guard. Nothing had come up yet, but it never hurts to always be ready. And so was the case tonight. A quiet sound could be heard as the thief ran toward the royal chambers. Not loud, but loud enough to catch Sara's ear, waking her. She immediately sprung from her bed, ready for her visitor.
The thief, Hiru, approached the door and knocked quietly, hoping to wake the queen without alerting the unknown visitor.
Sara carefully unlocked the door and readied herself.
Hiru opened the door... and saw nobody. He looked about carefully, when suddenly he felt a kick in his back, knocking him onto his knees in the room. He turned around to see the door closed and locked. And before he could turn back, he felt a blade held across his throat.
"What are you doing in my chambers?" inquired Sara, her other blade ready in case he still attempted to strike with a weapon of his own.
Careful not to move, Hiru replied "Your Queenship, forgive my bothering you, but there is an unknown presence moving about the guild. I feared he may be an assassin, and decided it best to warn you, for his intentions are currently unknown."
Sara removed her blade from his throat, but still remained cautious. "Are you certain that he is an assassin?"
Turning to face his queen, he replied "Your Queenship, we are unsure as to whether it is even human. All that anyone has been able to see are glimpses of the shadows it sometimes produces as it moves about."
Sara looked into his eyes. His statements seemed sincere. "Then we shall go greet our visitor and ask him why he is here." Sara got up and walked toward the door.
He grabbed her arm, "B-but your Queenship! You can't... I can't allow you to put yourself in such danger!"
Sara looked back at Hiru, "Then I'll expect you to do a good job watching out for me."
Hiru let go of her arm, blushing slightly. "I won't let you down..." He watched as she unlocked the door, a set of kunai in each of his hands, ready to strike at a moments notice.
She cautiously made her way through the stairway to main hall. She kept an eye out in case there was, in fact, an assassin lurking about the guild.
Hiru followed Sara closely, looking nervously this way and that. He watched every shadow cautiously. Did that shadow just move? No. At least I don't think it did. Did it? What was that sound?! Is that my breathing, or is that someone else?! I've got to keep an eye on the Queen. I never should have gotten her involved in this.
Sara and Hiru entered the main hall, immediately drawing the attention of the other thieves.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Hiru saw some movement near the ceiling. Instinctively, he threw 3 kunai toward the object and readied another set. "He's up there!" said Hiru quietly, turning Sara's attention toward the spot.

As the young queen of thieves marched down the halls of her guild with her devoted follower at her side, they both would have been right to watch those shadows so wearily. Behind any door or through any window the mysterious stalker of the guild of thieves could have been and yes, that shadow had certainly moved though neither of the two could have possibly been sure. The shadows about the guild continued to shift as that same form seemed to cast those quick figments of reflections about the halls and against the walls.
Once those two had reached the main hall of the guild and the nervous thief guarding his queen began to almost blindly throw sets of kunai up towards the ceiling, a large shadow passed for a half a second on the floor directly infront of them as the shadow of a man allowed the other thieves about the room to see, if they were watching close enough, a flickered glimpse of himself passing behind the doorway in which the queen stood with her guard. The hooded form of a man that no one in the room would have been able to spot with any certainty seemed to dissapear again as swiftly as he had come to pass. Hiru had been right though, the mysterious shadow stalker had definitely been up high nearer the ceiling at the time they entered the room, but those moments from one time to the next seemed long enough for this shadow man to find his swift way behind them.
Without a single other sign of the mystery mans presence to be seen for several moments to come, Hiru suddenly found himself strung up on a rope and pinned against the wall above the doorway in less time than it would have taken the poor young man to blink his eyes. The thief hadnt been harmed or even so much as hurt in the least, though the shocked look on his face couldhave been considered mental trauma if he were faint enough of heart. With the rope passed around the young thiefs chest and under his arms, this hooded man, whoever he was, somehow managed to attach the thief securely to the wall through what may have been a couple peeping wholes in the walls. Whatever it was that that rope was tied to, this shadow man had to have known it was there.
No one in the entire room said a thing or made a single sound in response to the sudden stringing up of the young man, not even Hiru himself, let alone any of the astounded thieves sitting quietly scared about the room. Without making an appearance though, that mystery man stalking around in the shadows of the guild of thieves had seemingly vanished once again into the shadows and the hidden places of the guild, and every now and then, a glimpse of a shadow or the flicker of a form could be seen somewhere within the halls.

Hiru had been strung up so suddenly, that Sara had no time to to react, let alone see who had done it. This mysterious visitor had made it quite clear that he had no intention of being seen, at least not clearly. Though, he did seem to make sure to allow just enough to ensure the guild that he had not left.
He seemed to know his way around very well, too well. Either this was not his first visit, or he had been here much longer than anyone had realized. Either way, his current intentions had to be identified.
But first Hiru had to be rescued. He was in a state of shock and was unable to cut himself down. The attack had come quite unexpectedly. He should have been on guard for any type of attack, but now wasn't the time to scold him on being a good thief. Hiru wasn't too good with heights, and he was quite high up. It wouldn't be very good if he passed out while up there.
Sara jumped to the wall, kicked off of it and flipped toward Hiru. In passing, she cut the rope from around his body and landed back down on the ground. She dashed forward and caught him as he fell. There wasn't much she could expect from him after all of that, so she placed him down on a decent couch. Not the greatest condition, but it would be good enough for him to recover.
Next, Sara turned to the seemingly empty room. It seemed impossible to see just where he was unless he wished for them to see him, so it looked like that was what Sara would have to do.
Speaking out into the room, Sara said "I believe you've done well enough to announce your presence. Why is it that you enter into the guild? Surely not just to look around? Otherwise you wouldn't have recklessly attracted the attention of the entire guild. Unless you're really that stupid."

It was rather ironic in fact that the girl would say what she did. Looking around was quite precisely what he was doing in the guild of thieves and he was seen not out of stupidity, but rather to make a point. Whoever it was, that man in the cloak wanted them all to know, and especially that young queen of thieves it seemed, that they were being watched. This mystery man seemed to know every nook and cranny in the guild, as though he had had time to study and learn the place ove many years. The queen herself would surely not have known the ins and outs of the place as well as he, and none would know why that was, nor would they have any way of knowing why it was this man took such interest in the goings on of the thieves.
Without saying a single word, the man stood leaning one shoulder against the frame of a door to the main hall in the guild, his head bowed down under his hood as his covered form faced the girl. Holding his arms crossed infront of himself, the man wouldhave stood slightly over six feet tall if it werent for the slouch in his casual stance as he seemed to stare at the floor for a moment. There wasn’t even any form of visable motion involved in the mans appearance in the doorway. The sight seemed as though he had been there all along when Sara wouldhave seen him.
The man didn’t say a thing, though it seemed as though he very badly wanted to look up at the girl, and simply refused to show his face for whatever reason he may have had, just as the occassional begginings to motions in his body and arms might suggest the desire to reach out for her, though he so obviously resisted such desires as well. The hooded mans intent would remain unspoken, though it may have been clear he was there to keep certain track of things he would never go without knowing. Ignorence was intolerable in any circumstance, and he would not fall vicitm to the snare of it.
The man stood silently in the doorway for only the time it took for the girl to see him and a few moments after. He stood silent and nearly motionless, save for those few tiny motions of his that most wouldn’t even notice, but a skilled eye surely would see as a man fighting desire. Though he stood idly as it seemed, the man would surely find some way to sneak off as if vanishing into the walls themselves by the time anyone would begin to aprach his position.

Sara saw the man standing in the doorway. He did well to conceal himself, as there was no sign as to who he might be. Yet, there was something almost familiar about him. That fact tugging at the back of her mind drove Sara to wonder even more as to the strangers identity. Yet, he still refused to speak, refused to state his true reasoning for being there. But why? Had he meant an assassination, he had more than enough skill and opportunity to take whoever he could have aimed for. And that was just as true had he come to steal from the guild. It only made sense, then, that he was here to observe. He quite obviously had no need to look over the area, for he seemed to know every room and passage, and more than likely could have navigated them in the darkest of conditions. So, he seemed to be here to keep an eye on something in particular.
The thieves awaited her command, but for once, Sara wasn't sure what to say. She took a step toward the cloaked figure, and then hesitated. Surely he wouldn't allow anyone to get too close. He didn't seem to mean any harm, but taking an unnecessary risk and leaving him be could be dangerous. Even if that weren't true, Sara's desire to know the man's identity was starting to get to her. She swallowed hard and began to walk slowly toward him. Somewhere in her mind, she knew that he was here to see her.
