It was a weekday beautiful afternoon. The sun was shining and sky was clear, only a few fat, white clouds trailed along the sky, lazily heading for the horizon. The glassy surface of the lake sparkled in the light, the water unbroken by ripples or wind. The green grass melded into golden sand, which met the the edge of the lake, attempting to lure anyone away from their busy scheduals.
Faust and Cella were on the sandy shore. The doctor had taken the rest of the day off, giving Cella time off as well. It was a slow day at the hospital anyway and it wasn't like it couldn't run without them. It had been a week or two since Faust started working at the hospital, something he had truely enjoyed. Yet he seemed not to have any free time since he worked there, so he gave himself some. He made sure to invite Cella, another employee and friend who Faust noticed was often buried with work.
"Here we are." The young man said after a long walk. His usual smile was spread over his face as he spoke to Cella. He paused and thought over everything before speaking a small revelation. "Sometimes its nice to take part of the day off, isn't it?"

Cell was hesitant at first, taking a day off wasn’t what she was used to, of course, she also wasn’t used to having half the work load she used to have, Faust now receiving the patients now with her at his side to assist, or in her office filing or filling out forms and such. Today though, was indeed such a beautiful day and as she and Faust had grown to spend countless hours in that hospital, cramped together in one office or the other, straightening affairs of the hospital together, instead of her doing it all alone, or visa-versa, it was a welcome relief to be ‘set free’ for a day and she couldn’t think of a better person to be spending it with, or for that matter, a better place. Cella loved the lake, she loved to swim and simply relax in the still waters of the huge water mass that seemed to separate the darker forest from the town they lived and worked in.
“It is so perfect out.” She said as they walked the sandy part of the lake shore, in search for that perfect spot to ditch their outer garment and throw down their towels before taking that first refreshing dip into the cool waters of the lake. “This is the best idea you’ve had in a very long time Faust.” She continued, a smile growing on her lips, her lavender eyes absolutely sparkling in the sunlight. “Don’t get me wrong, the decisions you make in those cramped quarters are great and all, and usually go off without mishap but this…” She paused to wave her hand about the silent lake. “This couldn’t be more perfect.” She finished as she spotted a nice flat area just at the edge of the grass line to set their things and headed for it, flipping her sandals off as she walked and then tossing her towel out in a perfect arch so that it landed on the ground nice and straight, and then commenced to untie the light skirt that hung loosely over her legs and laying it aside, she was now dressed only in her bathing suit, a two piece that left little to the imagination and then turned with that same girlish smile to Faust. “Well, coming?” She teased as she backed towards the water, her eyes on him, giving him a chance to discard and join her.

Faust was grinning the whole time she spoke, the fact that she thought this was a good idea made his spirits soar. His eyes twinkled merrily as she went on to explain that most of his ideas were good. Cella took off her clothes, revealing a two piece bathing suit. It was a little strange to see Cella without her usual blue outfit and white apron, the uniform nurses wore at the hospital.
“Well, coming?”
"Of course, just give me a minute." He said, shaking his head. Faust laid down a blanket on the sand, spreading it out so that there was pleanty of room. He removed his black coat and bundled it up, putting it on the ground. The doctor unbuttoned his shirt and did the same as he did with his coat, then proceeding to romove his hand and place it on the pile. He kicked off his boots and undid his pants, a pair of swim trunks underneath.
Faust waded into the water, it cooling his skin instantly. He went about waist deep before stopping and sighing. "The water's nice, isn't it?" He asked Cella, before cupping his hands and letting some water flow into the bowl. He brought his hands over his head and let the water fall on to his head. The young man smiled as he pushed some of his pale, now damp, hair out from in front of his eyes.

Cella backed her way into the water as she watched him undress, her lavender eyes going over his form and a slight blush coming to her cheeks before she turned and dove in and under the water. She had just come up when Faust entered behind her.
“Yes, it is most refreshing.” She returned, as she brushed her wet hair from her face with one small hand and then putting her two hand together, palms out, she thrust them forward on the surface of the water and sent a wave up and onto Faust and then giggled. “So much for getting entirely wet the slow way.” She grinned at him.

The splash hit Faust and he felt the water catch him when he wasn't ready. He jumped slightly out of surprise and quickly bent his knees so his shoulders disappeared under the surface. A few seconds later his chin followed and all that was left was his nose and eyes above the water, the twin green orbs watching Cella cautiously as a few bubbles came up to the surface.
A few moments passes before Faust's hand appeared out of the water. It was open palmed, as if in a greeting and stayed like that for a few seconds before moving back and then forward very quick, sending a splash of water at Cella. Underneath the water Faust's mouth was curved up into a thin smile. His head dipped under the surface and then brought it up , standing again with the water at his waist.
"There." He said. "All wet, happy?" His voice light and happy.

Cella squealed as water from his return attack hit her in the face and then laughed. “Yes, very much so.” She replied and then dived outward and disappeared from sight.
She was out of sight for a really very long time, more so than what would seemed the norm for most humans and when she resurfaced, she was a good ways out toward the middle of the lake and as she bobbed up and down, she waved at him with a barely noticeable smile on her faraway face. “Come on, it’s so nice out here!” She yelled out to his still close to the shore form.
Once again, Cella had chanced her unusual ability to hold her breath for long periods at a time and had swam under the water to her favorite floating spot on the lake, the near precise center. She didn’t put any thought to the fact that her odd and most unusual ability could or would in fact startle Faust until after she had waved him out and then her smile faded and she hoped he’d not been too startled when she didn’t come up for air in the near three minutes it took her to resurface again.

Cella dove under the water and Faust smiled. He went a little deeper until he had to tread to keep himself afloat. His legs kicked gently, his head and neck over the surface. Faust's eyes scanned around to find Cella when she popped back up. However when she didn't immediately appear he grew slightly worried, after the first minute he put his head underwater to search for her, but she could be seen. He began to panic, his head twisting side to side, conviced she was there. He pulled his head from the lake and called out. "Cella! Cella!" He yelled, it was impossible for someone to hold there breath for almost three minutes and not be ok. However as soon as he finished calling her name he saw a head appear quite a distance.
He was still for a moment, forgetting to tread and he quickly began to sink. The moment his chin hit the water he snapped back to reality and began to tread again. He heard her call to him and he swam to her quickly and stopped when near her. "Cella, confused. "You didn't hold your breath for this whole time?" He asked. He knew he maybe just missed her come up for air, but he was almost positive he didn't. He shook his head, white locks touching the water, trying to convince himself.
He glanced over her, the shock of the moment starting to receed, but he still had an odd feeling in his stomach. "Cella, I was worried." He started. "I mean.... I thought you had gotten caught in something..." Faust sighed, no matter how suprised he was he was still relived Cella was alright.
"Are you ok?" He asked.

Cella had turned to her back and was floating as Faust came to her side; she heard the panic in his voice and the controlled fear. She had frightened him and she turned her head to look at him, allowing her body to sink below the surface, all but her head now and she too tread water as she looked at him, her lavender eyes smiling at him in a soft way. “I’m sorry Faust, I hadn’t thought about it until after I had already done it…” She started, her lips turning up into a slight smile. “And yes, I did stay under the water the entire time.. I found I could do this a long time ago when I was very little, I haven’t ever tested just how long I could hold my breath, but, it seems that I have no difficulty from the shore to here.” She rambled on in explanation, wanting to ease his mind.
She felt terrible at this moment, she hadn’t meant to startle him, and she just hadn’t thought about alerting him before she up and disappeared for so long. “I truly am sorry..” She said. “And yes, I am fine, thanks for your concern.” She said just before she allowed herself to slide under the surface again only to come up behind him and placing a hand on his shoulder to turn him around. “Forget about it, lets enjoy our day… ok?” She said and asked, looking at him with the most innocent of expressions as she smiled sweetly at him, her eyes however now beginning to take on a most devilish appeal, right before she rapidly moved her other arms up to grasp his other shoulder and pushed him under the water and then kicked backwards and began to swim away a bit before turning to tread water once more.

Faust was slightly dumbfounded as she explained that, in fact, she did stay underwater. It was nearly impossible to do and he could barely beleive it. Then she apologized, which brought the doctor back to his senses. "I- er, no, its ok." He said quietly, turning his eyes upwards and sighed.
Faust looked back down and was suprised to find Cella to have disappeared once more. He raised an eyebrow just as he felt a hand on his shoulder which turned him around gently. The young man was looking straight into Cella's lavander eyes. She was smiling, innocence spread across every feature of her face, which slowly became one of mischief. Faust was intrigued at this for a moment before being thrust underwater.
The doctor burst back up to the surface sputtering. He half glared, half smiled at Cella for a moment before sinking underneath the water. A moment passed, then Faust grabbed Cella by the ankles pulled her down to return the favor.

Cella’s squeal was cut off when her head submerged under the lakes surface and her lavender eyes opened up under the water, casting a sort of purplish haze that lit up her surroundings as she unconsciously willed to see better to track her attacker beneath the surface.
She found him and reached her arms out and grasped him about the leg as he ascended back toward the surface and allowed him to bring himself up for air before tugging and pulling him under once again. With a smart tug about his ankle before she herself attempted a hasty escape underwater, her body twisting under the water with all the grace of any mermaid as she began to swing away, her red locks floating softly in the sluggish current behind her head.

As Faust swam up to get air he noticed a purple haze set about the water around him. He paused mid swim and looked about the less than clear water for whatever it was, but did not have much time seeing as he was running out of breath. He broke to the surface and breathed in, only to feel something close around on his ankle and yank him down again.
As he was rushed underwater Faust shut his eyes, opening them when he had stopped. He couldn't see far in the dark water, but could make out two legs and a little whisp of red hair disappear into the gloom. He thrust forward a few feet, yet could not find any trace of Cella again. He squinted around, only seeing a few bubbles that had escaped his lips and the dark water.

Cella swam a bit further when she noticed that Faust had not continued his pursuit of her but had stayed in his underwater spot, surrounding by darkness. She smiled softly and then made a long wide birth about his form and came up behind him and grabbed him around the waist from behind and then pulled him upwards with her to the surface before she let go again laughing.
“I can’t believe you let me loose you that easily.” She said to him and splashed him lightly with a bit of water before she leaned backwards, submerging her hair and righting herself again, her hair now all draping behind her as she tread water next to him with that same, innocent smile as before. “So, what you want to do now?” She asked, once again lying back to float on the surface of the still water, her lavender gaze looking up at the perfect sky.

Faust shrugged. "I guess we could do whatever you wanna do." He said, always being the nice guy. He laughed gently. "And just so you know, I couldn't see you, let alone find you." He shook his head, still chuckling. "How did you expect me to even get close?"
Faust tread water and looked at Cella, eyeing her suspicious. "And don't dunk me underwater." He told her. "I think I've had enough 'underwater war' for now." Then he smiled. "You know, you're quite strong for your size. You certainly are full of surprises."
The man looked upwards at the clear sky. "So what do you want to do?" He asked politely.

Cella turned her head and looked over at him from her back and smiled softly at him now. “No, no more underwater war… it’s time to simply kick back and relax, float on the water and just be for a bit…” She paused and then moving her hand slightly in the water, propelled herself close to him and laid a small hand on his cheek. “.. Close to a good friend and simply be.” She concluded as she let her hand fall from his cheek.
Cella was quiet for a moment and then looked back up at the sky again. “Ya, well, when you spend most of your days and nights carrying injured or sick people to a bed for aid, you can’t be weak.” She told him with a slight half laugh.
She was quiet again for another long pause and then turned her lavender gaze on him yet again. “I like being here…” She paused. “With you.” She nearly whispered as her head turned back up to gaze at a bird as it flew overhead.

Faust obligued to Cella's idea and merely floated there. He felt something along his face and turned his his to find Cella, her hand upon his cheek, which slowly moved down to his chest. "Cella..." He said slowly. Then he nodded. "I agree...." He answered.
Faust understood her next statement, there are some days in his job that definitely take a lot of physical work to accomplish. In fact Faust himself was stronger than he looked, the tall, reletively thin man often had to lift men much heavier than himself and place them on beds. He smiled and continued to float as Cella's next words came to him.
“I like being here… with you.”
The doctor turned to look at Cella for a few seconds. He followed her eyes and trailed a passing bird before responding. "I know what you mean.... I like being here with you too." He whispered back. Faust shut his eyes and sighed quietly.
