The grave keeper watched in disgust as, in the late afternoon - early evening, as a young couple slowly strode into the graveyard with tears in their eyes. They aproached the fifth grave of the eleventh row and knelt down to the ground, mourning for a loss they had sufferd.
Ash could still vividly remember the corps that was layed to rest there not six months ago. He always enjoyed burrials as it was a time for him to examine the dead that would be in his care. He did not have any particular attachements for that one as she seamed to be a saint of sorts. All her organs were in excelent condition and she had not a scratch on her, even died with a smile on her face.
Figuring on having a little fun with the couple at hand, Ashard decended into the ground and moved the the site of the old hag's grave. He could hear the wimpering as he sifted form to bear the resemblance of their dearly departed. Not long after, he rose from the ground in front of the pair while bearing a truly insane look on his, or rather, what apeared to be the dead woman's face. A scary laughter came forth shortly before he spoke to the two, "It took you six months before you come to see me and you honestly want me to think you care about me?" Ash hardly had time to finish his sentence before the couple were on their feet and headed for the graveyard entrance, one of which was leaving a pee trail behind them.
The Grave Keeper shifted back to his own form and cackled evilly as the last rays of the sun went out of sight and the moon shone brightly in the nights sky, knowing full well that they would not have a chance of reachin' the gate to leave. Two masive stone statues that stood on each side of the doorway began to crack and peices fell to the floor as the creatures, the gargoyles came to life.
The young pair froze in their place not knowing which direction to go as a ghost stood behind them, and death, was surely ahead.

The air grew chiller the night seeming to darken all the more as the couple backed away from the enormous figures now standing before them as they cowered and sniveled in terror at what looked to be a certain horrid fate. In the now still air of the twilight, a voice rang out, its waves of tone and pitch carried in a ghostly manner to the ears of all who stood at the gates of the graveyard.
“Hold..” The word was said and all seemed to freeze, even the smallest of dewdrops that had begun to take form on the nearest leaf seemed to halt its progress as it slid down the soft curve of the green, shiny textured plant. “Ash… My dear, sweet Ash, I don’t believe that her Majesty would be all too happy to know you have been playing in this manner with the living again.” The voice spoke once more, still no shape could be seen, only the now sarcastic and most displeased of voices rang through the graveyard as the couple now huddled against a nearby head stone of one Klaudius Kepper , both holding one another very close.
Another moment and to the right of the dastardly phantom known now as Ash, a figure began to materialize, a figure of a beautiful warrior, her attire consisting of the uniform of old Karador, though no colors where seen, except perhaps for the seemingly glowing red orbs that glared at first the two Gargoyles and then the Grave keeper.
“Let them pass unscathed call off your mangy dogs.” Kiara growled, her ghostly gaze watching closely the two pets that the grave keeper seemed to have become so fond of. “Else I send Cassius and his men into your home to destroy your pets.” She spat.

The Grave Keeper could feel her coming as everything got darker before she spoke up “Hold..” Everything came almost to a stand still and she then continued to speak onto him wilst he rolled his eyes at her words.
"I wasn't going to kill them or anything that harsh. I already have enough graveyard work for the time being." He paused for a second before continuing. "Is it really that wrong to have some harmeless fun with the living?" Ash asked in exasperation. Kiara always came around when he tried to distract himself a little.
When Kiara glared at him, Ash sarcastically glared back, making fun of her look as he always did when she looked at him as such right before her threats usually started.
"It's weird" He stated after she finished speaking. "I thought that old man would've already been in my care by now." He paused for a moment. "Oh well. Life and death do have their surprises I spose. But do you really have to bring my boys into this? They're so innocent. Not their fault they like playing." He frowned

Kiara crossed her arms and then shook her head slowly, as iif trying to maintain a semblance of just, calmness in the face of this rather silly and most obnoxious character she had grown to dislike, as well as she liked.
Yes, Ash had grown on Kiara over the years, his nasty little ways amusing at times though some how, she always worried he’d go just one step too far and his pranks would end up causing him more work. She knew HE wouldn’t intentionally kill the living, but his ‘pets’ on the other hand, playful though their intensions might be, they wee just far to stupid to know that humans are not so sturdy as they, themselves are.
“I see, so, you didn’t intend to harm them, so why not call your mutts off then and let them pass eh Ash?” She said then, her eyes still glaring at him, not letting her guard down for one moment, nor the fact that she found the living humans huddled against that headstone to be less than appealing and a bit more of an annoyance than anything else. “And as far as Lord Cassius is concerned, it will take far more than a pair of silly Gargoyles to take him out, and yes, he is with us still, will be for a very long time so you had best get used to it.” She finished, a note of anger flying into her otherwise reserved, attempt at calm.

"Hey! Hold up a sec!" His voice increased slightly as he frowned severely, agitated now, she always knew how to push him. "I never threatened your beloved old guy." He continued as he scrunched up his face. "Just most folks in my graveyard weren't even as old as he is now when they came to me. So as far as statistics go he's passed date is all."
Ash pouted a bit before his eyes caught sight of the couple again, just staring wide eyed at him and he laughed merily. "I love it when they squirm though. They look so funny." Turning to his gargoyles he smiled brightly, "Worst they ever done was sit on folks before you came to interveen. I dun get what's so bad here. We do need some sort of entertainement and folks that come here give it so freely till you come by."
Ash just looked at her blankly. "You expect me to just tend to my graveyard for the rest of my ghostly existence with no other pass times?"

Kiara narrowed her eyes at the other ghost and then took in a deep; most unneeded breath, an old habit never leaving her after death. “Look Ash, I will not have you running about complaining as to his non-dead state. Right now, he needs well wishes more than thoughts of death. And…” She stopped suddenly and then narrowed her eyes further, had he just called Cassius her beloved? “Look, he is most definitely NOT my beloved…” She almost growled. “I just simply find him most in need of my attention because of who he is, that’s all.” She returned rather defensively her arms now sliding to her sides, her hands clenching into fists.
The couple huddled at the gravestone continued to watch the scene unfold before their eyes. They seemed to begin to relax slightly as the attention had been drawn away from them, the two ghostly images now arguing amongst themselves, though they still refused to move, too frightened of the massive forms that continued to bar their exit form the graveyard.
Kiara heard everything else Ash had said, but her answers to those remarks went unstated as she was now so taken aback at his usage of the beloved remark concerning Cassius.

The gargoyles were now seated where they had stood, waiting to see what was expected of them as they knew that when this other ghost came along and stayed for more than a few seconds it meant the fun was over.
Kiara's more reserved state was not left un-noted by the Grave Keeper as he finished with his ramblings and narowed his eyes on her in return. "Are you still fuming over the term 'beloved'? Seriously? Wow..... You fliped like this last time when I called the bartender 'your beloved'. I never thought I'd have to explain myself every time I use the term." He laughed heartily, finding the situation too funny to hold back from it. "Like I said the other time; beloved is a term I use for those you care about, not those you are madly in love with." He laughed again. "So as far as I'm concerned, the entire citizenship of Karador are your beloved folks." He paused for a moment and looked at her kinda of funny like. "Though if you want me to I could start to think you have a thing for him" he finished by giving her a wink.

“Ok, well then, yes, I do care for him, no more than anyone else, of course, so I guess.. Ok.” She stated, her hands loosening their grip, hoping her motions would show him that she didn’t care for Cassius anymore than her words stated as she knew how he could be.
Wait, did he just say what I THINK he id? She thought and then growled again.
“Look, you just keep your mouth shut and stop thinking of things you don’t even understand you addle minded twit.” She then spat, her hands once again tightening into fists. “Of course, two could always play at that game and I could start, sending countless numbers of people into your finely manicured graveyard to mess it all up and leave for you to clean up after, should you begin to start imagining things about the General and myself…” She then said, her tone becoming smooth, almost snake-like in tone. “As well, be certain to get a law passed that no one enter this graveyard at night. What ever would your little playthings do for fun then huh? I guess they too would have to begin digging up dirt and destroying that which you work so hard on, you know, doing as mutts do…” She left it hanging, a slight grin pressing up the corners of her lips now, giving her the look of a mischievous bi***.
The couple still huddled near the gravestone winced as Kiara called the Gargoyles mutts again, hoping that the first ghost wouldn’t take too much offence, as he seemed to be the one they would have to fear here, as this female one didn’t even seem to pay them any attention, other than to stop the oncoming aggressions of the two hideously deformed live statues that faced them still.

Ashard just stood there smilling widely within himself till the smile came outward as well with Kiara going all on the defensive side. She was not the only one that knew how to get on the other's nerves, after all, they have known each other an awful number of years. He just let her rant and get all protective over the reputation that she had in his mind. Though her big defensive strategy was making it look as though there really was something, they both knew that he did not have in depth conversations with anyone, so how was her real reputation to get harmed by his thoughts? Whether he had those she accused him of or not.
So.... he just stood there smilling at her, his eyes shining brightly even though there was no matter to reflect light off of.

His silence meant one of two things, he would either be bluffing or he actually figured something out hat she DEFINITELY didn’t want him knowing. She would have to remain calm in the face of this strategy, her foe was shrewd, perhaps more so that she ever gave him credit for, no, she did give him credit but, she had slipped and a big slip it might have been.
Kiara turned her attention suddenly to the living beings sitting now, no longer huddling at the headstone. “Well, are you just gonna sit there and gap at us like a couple of silly twits, or are you going to go home.” She said in a quiet, yet stern tone, needing a moment to collect herself, and move away from the conversation at hand, pretending as though Ash’s quiet manner had not fazed her at all.
“As for you…” She turned to look at the Gargoyles still sitting patiently at the gate. “Mind you let them pass unscathed, remember, they are fragile, much more than you.” She said in an almost motherly tone to the two creatures before rounding her gaze once more towards Ash. “Ok, I understand you get bored from time to time Ash, but really, you know you could go play with the living any place you desire, why not leave them to mourn over their dead in peace?” She asked, her eyes softening slightly.

Ash saw how quickly her dispotion had changed amd he found this to be rather funny as she only ever changed so rapidly and drasticaly when he caught onto something that she did not want him to. A smug look came to his face with that thought in his mind while her back was to him. He quickly straightened out before her attention came back to him and looked about in an innocent manner as she spoke unto him while the two beasts casually moved out of the way to let the bystandards through as asked.
Once she finished asking her question he simply replied, "They get in the way of my work." He frowned. "Even if I try to go about my work in an invisible manner they still freak out at the sight of my tools moving about on their own. They leave flowers behind." He groaned at the thought. "Those just die and have to be thrown out. Don't they realise that with all those flowers they bring it causes a lot of unnecesary work? I mean, they are dead for pete's sake! Apart from you and I there aren't any other dead folks that hang around in the graveyard so no one is actually here to enjoy them." He paused for a moment before going on. "And I'm the one that lives here." He pouted. "Not all those tresspassers. I don't enter their homes uninvited." His eyes widened as a new thought came to mind and he stoped to think on it. 'entering their homes'.
But that thought stopped there as he realised that the question was primarily a distraction from the situation that she got herself into and he started to laugh. Pointing his finger and her and shaking his head in disbelief he said, "Man! Your good!"

The living humans stood and walked, almost hypnotically from the graveyard, all the while their eyes glued to any sign that those giant beasts would attack them as they passed, but as soon as they had moved through the gate, they ran, perhaps all the way home.
‘Yes, you were saying, about entering their homes… and why not? I do it all the time, it passes time greatly to move things about, from one point to another and just simply sit back and laugh when they realize what is going on. Truly, you should try it sometime.” She replied, ignoring his you’re good comment and moving forth now with the new idea to him of venturing into the living human’s dwellings. “As far as the flowers go, they have no idea that their passed family members are not able to know that they have brought them flowers, it has always been a tradition, if you would like, I could have it posted that if one wished to bring flowers to their graves, they would have to replace them once every week, so as not to have dead foliage lying about your home.” She finished, hoping this last remark might satisfy his hunger for argument, move him further away from what it was they had been talking about, though she knew it probably wouldn’t and she’d be forced to admit what it was she didn’t want to.

As she stood there trying to temp him into venturing into peoples houses, he just shook his head. Though he was definately going to tresspass into others home now, he had a goal that at this moment seemed to be more pressing as she was trying so forcefully to hide something from him. And the fact that she needed to hide something so desperately from someone that speaks with basically no one was very noteworthy as it rarely happened.
Still shaking his head he crossed his arms as she trailed on. He started to tap his right foot even though it made no sound as he was getting impatient. Something that was so big that almost entirely spills out accidentally and she keeps attempting to hide must need to come out. All her other relations were either so close to her or just acquaintances, so she was probably never going to be in a situation to tell anyone. And the odd relationship that they had was probably the only let out she would ever get before she was ready to do anything about her thoughts.
So the way he figured it, whether it was what he thought or not, whether she wanted to tell him or not, she had to tell him before she exploded in front of someone that would actually matter.
Ash lowered his head slightly as he raised his eyebrows giving her a stern, very serious look. And with a voice that matched his look he simply said "Spill it."

Kiara froze, the manner in which those two seemingly small words came from his ghostly lips left no room for argument and she closed her eyes and once again, took a most unnecessary breath and sighed heavily before her onyx eyes rested on his face once more and then she bowed her head.
“It’s not going to work, is it…” She sated more than asked, as she knew the answer was not on anyone’s life. She remained silent for a few moments, the air about them moving a bit now as a breeze seemed to move up from the west, tossing the leaves of a near-by bush about to make a soft, scraping sound against a headstone behind her.
“I …” She paused, and looked down at the ground beneath her floating feet. “I…” She tried again, this time closing her eyes and taking a steadying breath. “Oh hang it all Ash.” She started anew, her eyes popping open a flash of anger and yet at the same time relief coming to her dark orbs. “I love him ok, there, I said it, are you happy now.” She said, her voice not too loud, but strong enough to have carried a slight distance from their point of conversation.

Her reaction to his two simple but stern words was more than enough to let him know that this was very stressing as well as weighing heavilly on her. Softening his look he let her say what she needed until it all came out.
He waited a moment before replying to her question to make sure that she was done. "Well, that depends." He leaned his head to the side and looked at her honestly. They may have gotten on each others nerves a lot over the years and definately don't see eye to eye on probably half the subjects one could imagine, but he still considered her as a friend. "How do you feel now?"
